How to Add Printer to iPad

Apple’s iPad offers wireless printing with home and office printers. Printers with AirPrint feature do not require any additional software or application to print wirelessly. You have to set up the printer on the same local wireless network as the iPad.


Apple’s iPad comes with the AirPrint feature that connects a wireless printer over a wireless network. This feature works well with Safari, Photos, and Mail, allowing iPad users to print Web pages, photos, and emails.


Check the printer manual to see if it is AirPrint compatible.

Set Up The Printer

  • Step 1: Turn on the printer.
  • Step 2: Go to Settings Wireless Settings Wi-Fi Network.
  • Step 3: Locate the local network and click it.
  • Step 4: Enter the password.
  • Step 5: The connection between your printer and the local network is established.
  • Step 6: Launch the printer’s software and select Enable AirPrint in it.

On your iPad

  • Step 1: Make sure you connect your iPad to the same wireless network as the printer.
  • Step 2: Open Safari, Mail, or Photos.
  • Step 3: Pick the content/photo to be printed and hit Print.
  • Step 4: Locate your printer among the available printers.
  • Step 5: Tap on the printer’s name and print.
  • Step 6: If you’re unable to print, check if the printer is turned online.
  • Step 7: Confirm that there are no uncleared errors on the printer’s control panel.
  • Step 8: It is important that the printer has filled ink cartridges. 

For Printers without AirPrint

Some printer models do not support AirPrint. But you can print from an iPad onto them with specific apps. Find the right app for your printer and proceed as directed below:

  • Step 1: Press the Wireless icon or button on the printer.
  • Step 2: Navigate to Settings Wi-Fi Brand Name Network.
  • Step 3: Select this network on your iPad.
